CD August Ocean Overture now at Lulu.com (JzCDz.com) for $9.95

CD Disc: $9.95

My 2007 Debut CD, August Ocean Overture was released in 2008 on Amazon, CDbaby and iTunes -- this after over 30 years of keyboard playing and composing! A long road to a debut CD but my music is worth it--it's not the music of an amateur composer, but shaped by seasoned thoughts and hard work.

This is a Lulu version to make it available from my JzCDz Storefront here at Lulu--I also have a lot of writer friends on the web--they might pick it up here at this cheaper price. I had it at CDbaby for this price too, but I don't think my web friends use it or feel comfortable buying from there. Hey! Who knows? Maybe I'll sell one here.

It's 1 track shorter at 13 tracks, almost 70' or a little less of jazz/new age keyboard compositions and improvisations. Some tracks are piano solo, but there are several for full band, quartet, 1 vocal song, and some that have string backings. Many have other digital keyboard programs besides piano. Available here at the lowest price to allow my author friends to buy the CD -- all these tracks are downloadable as individual mp3s with FREE previews or a full album download is also here in my Lulu Storefront. Check out my work at JzCDz.com (that's my own domain being serviced here for now at Lulu)

AND in 2010! Coming soon: UNREQUITED, a CD of gorgeous jazz ballads, powerful new age music canvases (where music is painting), and some pretty hip uptempo jazz compositions influenced by my longstanding love of modern jazz players like Pat Metheny, Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea -- the first jazz of the 60's and 70's that spurred me on as I was learning classical piano. Yes, it's a new kind of fusion. Not 70's but today's-- combining classical/jazz/country and of course New Age visionary thinking to keyboard composition. STAY TUNED IN 2010 as this blog becomes: "CD Unrequited, the ongoing music of jazz pianist Michael Guy". The name change on release of the new CD...

Meanwhile as I approach the end of 2009, things are going reasonably well for my release of my 2009 musical effort called "Unrequited" - This is beautiful contemporary jazz piano based CD recorded in one giant session on June 16-17th 2009 - Romantic ballads mixed with Exploratory New Age-ish jazz sound canvases that are much like painting with music. Along with that are some very cool and blue uptempo jazz compositions celebrating again my love for the watery worlds of the planet. There is also an anthem in memorial to my Vermont years where Appalachian folk music seems to intersect with my love of Bach: It's called "How Green Was My Valley" - and you can check out a few of the new CD tracks at my ongoing PODCAST: Unrequited at my Garageband and Gcast pages:

Click Here: The Unrequited Podcast at Garageband

There will be a new Blog which I'll announce here on my Google blogs for CD: "Unrequited" (2009) - I will probably find another blog host, as Google seems to be the desert wasteland of blogs. Time to try something else. Keep posted here if you WANT TO FOLLOW MY BLOG> I need followers! Thanks, michael guy l'ecluse

Free Track from NEW (2009) upcoming CD: "Unrequited"

HOW GREEN WAS VALLEY: piano solo with synthesizer and organ backings by MICHAEL GUY
Click here for this free 5' download from the CD
A New Age/Jazz Americana piano solo song recorded in June 2009 layered with other digital sounds recorded on June 17th 2009 in memory of the many years ago I spent in Vermont with my late parents. It has a melody reminiscent of Bach meets American Mountain Folk music. This was a recorded in ONE TAKE! And a beautiful moment it was. Luckily I recorded 2 albums of material in June that will be released simultaneously with "IN MEMORY ONLY".
Good thing as I am currently recovering from injuries and cannot play.

An upcoming 2009 CD from American Jazz/NewAge pianist Michael Guy
UNREQUITED (2009) will be released on JzCDz.com soon after new equipment arrives that will make the mastering of the final disc easier on me.
STAY TUNED HERE AS A FOLLOWER (you can follow this BLOG) for other releases from JAZZ/NEW AGE Pianist/Composer Michael Guy's CD: "UnRequited"

Michael Guy's 2nd Original jazz/new age/Americana CD will be released this summer

Michael Guy's 2nd published CD has him back "on land" and takes a more Americana Jazz approach, even a country/folk influence in two of the included song backings from his original lyric songs. There are no lyric vocal performances here, but he does use his voice in Jazz Vocalize on 2 of the jazz/blues tracks. And speaking of the blues, his very progressive piano jazz blues is again in evidence in a studio recorded track putting back out to sea again in a newly composed "SEA of Bb Minor Blues" a neatly arranged piano solo with touches of organ. Also is given a live performance of his year 2000 jazz blues a little influenced by T. Monk's "Round Midnight" entitled: "Didn't Go as Planned Blues" - As a composer he then takes his jazz blue-scaled influenced writing into the Baroque classical world in 2 selections from his "The Blue Fugue" including the infectiously Baroque almost pop beat of pizzicato strings and vibes in his "Perpetuem Mobile".
Before the final OUTRO of this CD he also re-invents his love and study of classical/modern forms in a short, emotional piano embellishment on a Theme from his PIANO SONATA #1. This difficult to play but rich harmonic theme was actually composed between college music classes nearly 30 years ago and has recently been re-edited for publishing. The very classical-influenced theme in A minor is given a rich improvised setting freeing it from a strict classical style of playing and in the process making for a serene and perfect piano performance.
But most telling is his already proven to be popular synthesizer and digital pad orchestrated keyboard song: "IN MEMORY ONLY" whose emotional, nostalgic G major richly voiced chordal theme was written to memorialize his deceased mother who died in 2005. Its theme is even used as the INTRO and OUTRO of this very personal CD and its almost tear-dropping emotion leaves the work as a whole shimmering with a joyous gratitude for loved ones and dear deceased pets. Once again composer Michael Guy refuses to produce CDs that are a litany of one style of music or one style of writing. He takes this music through the range of what jazz /blues and country/folk influenced sytles can go as well as personally innovating in his fusion of classical composition into modern forms.
At the same time he leaves a very personal imprint and a human glow of emotional dedication.

CDbaby: how it works when you buy my CD and save $

I created an article from a"factoid" sent out by CDbaby founder, Derek Sivers, last March that gives the full rundown on how CDbaby works. It was meant for insiders like myself who have CDs on the site. It serves to inform anyone who wishes to shop for music there just how good their mp3 download system works, how much cheaper it can be for the buyer and more profitable for the artist. It also offers info on how they (CDbaby) make, distribute music and pay artists for their independent CD making efforts.

You find the ONE PLACE on the net where you can both download or buy my full CD at the best price! If you've wondered how the technology compares, or just want to know more about the digital technology available to distribute independent music like my jazz and piano, link out to read...

From an Amazon review of CD August Ocean Overture

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful:
5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth Jazz, Ocean Waves, and The Tropical Breeze! , June 17, 2008

His opening track, Ocean Prelude, is marvelous. I also enjoyed SEABREEZE, Rebirth Of The Cool, Big Wave Rider, and JazzDanceimage very much.
I soon found my feet tapping to his lively composition, Duke's Groove.

If you like soothing mood music, smooth jazz, ocean waves, and tropical breezes, check out author, composer, and accomplished jazz pianist Michael Guy's new C.D.
